Failover routing is an important business continuity feature of the SIP Trunking. Failover routing provides advanced, instant redundancy by automatically redirecting all inbound calls to an alternate phone number in the event a customer’s location is detected as unavailable to receive calls.
Intermedia’s network constantly monitors all customer locations for service availability. In the event a customer’s location is detected as unavailable, Failover Routing takes effect and reroutes calls to the predetermined phone number(s).
Per Phone Number Basis
Failover Routing can be implemented on a per phone number basis. This way, each phone number can have a unique failover destination. Calls can be sent directly to mobile phones, home phones, redundant PBX’s, or any other 10-digit phone number.
Protect Your Customers
Failover Routing protects customers from local outages such as failure of their IP network, inbound trunk failures (such as fiber cuts), PBX and power outages. In the event Intermedia’s network is unable to deliver a call to the phone system, it will automatically reroute the call to an alternate datacenter.
Continued Site Monitoring
Intermedia’s network continues to monitor the affected location until service is restored, and then, the original routing is restored.
Configuring Failover Routing
Failover routing can be set up on a DID by logging in to HostPilot and navigating to Voice Services. Click on “Locations” and select the trunk you want to set up failover on. Click on the “Phone numbers” tab in the submenu and select a DID, then click “Failover routing“. You may configure any 10-digit phone number as your failover routing destination.
